Facebook is so desperate for engagement, it's spamming users via their 2FA numbers

Fb is feeling lonely at the present time. 

The social media behemoth has noticed a decline in site visitors in fresh weeks at the side of tens of millions of customers leaving its platform, and it seems that to be taking quite drastic measures to win them again. In particular, spamming the hell out of them in a maximum unlucky position. 

So says one account holder, Gabriel Lewis, who tweeted that Fb texted “junk mail” to the telephone quantity he submitted for the needs of 2-factor authentication. And no, he insists he did not have cellular notifications became on. 

What is extra, when he responded “forestall” and “DO NOT TEXT ME,” he says the ones message confirmed up on his Fb wall.

Lewis defined his model of the tale to Mashable by means of Twitter direct message.

We reached out to Fb to determine simply what, precisely, is occurring right here. Is that this some roughly computer virus? Most likely a restricted take a look at? We now have gained no reaction as of press time.
